Happy holidays! I hope you all are soaking up these magical few days in between Christmas and New Years when we can’t remember what day it is or what a normal schedule feels like! Lolz. But like, so true. Don’t worry, this fully plant-based and anti-inflammatory acai smoothie bowl will do just the trick to get ya back on track! But before we dive in, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who visited DaniOnTheLoose.com this year.
Allowing me to share my holistic health and wellness journey with you all is such a pleasure and truly serves as major inspo for me when thinking about my goals for the year ahead. Discovering this type of lifestyle has truly impacted my life for the better in such a deep way and it absolutely lights me up inside to get to talk about it with you all! Ok, sappiness over.
So, what are your health goals for 2019? To meditate? Try yoga? Go plant-based keto or vegan? Or maybe, to test out organic beauty products? Whatever they may be, I promise to try and be a resource for you all to achieve those goals, and keep the wellness world hacks coming at ya all through the year.
Anti-inflammatory Acai Smoothie Bowl
To start, I wanted to share this low sugar/high healthy fat smoothie with you all straight from my mom’s recipe files. If you follow along pretty regularly, I’m sure you’ve seen Mama Mary’s tips here before. She is the true inspiration behind my organic everything obsessions and whole food, plant-based lifestyle. You can learn a lil’ more about her own health journey and treating disease holistically here.
We made this smoothie bowl for breakfast when she visited California earlier this year. We also made it consistently over the holidays as breakfast or lunch to keep us full inbetween Christmas party dinners (our other recipes for that are found here).
See below for ingredients. Just use a blender! We used a Ninja and a Vitamix, so whatever works best for you! As always, all ingredients are organic.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACAI SMOOTHIE BOWL RECIPE
vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, processed sugar-free
-
1/2 cup cranberries
-
1/2 cup blueberries
-
1 pack of frozen açaí (packets)
-
4 ice cubes
-
1/2 small avocado
-
3/4 – 1 cup Liquid. You can use a nut milk, coconut milk, water, or even a green juice. The more liquid the thinner it will be, more like a smoothie instead of a bowl. We used water and a dash of homemade almond milk.
-
Vegan protein powder of choice (we used Living Fuel, found here!)
-
HERBS (1 Teaspoon each):
-
ground cinnamon
-
ground tumeric (amaze ballz for fighting inflammation, the root cause of disease in the bod!)
-
astragalus powder*
-
mushroom powder*
-
alma powder*
-
moringa powder*
-
-
Top with a heaping spoonful each of hemp seeds, chia seeds, and cacao nibs. You can also add nuts or coconut if you’re feelin’ extra fancy! This is truly the best part because it gives it that yummy crunch, so I go a lil’ cray here.
Now, I’m off to enjoy the last couple days of 2018. Cheers to the new year ahead. My mouth is already watering at the thought of the organic bubbles (champagne, duh) I’ll soon be consuming to ring in 2019!
XOXO- Dani
