One of my main healthy lifestyle ESSENTIALS (yes, we’re getting punny over here at Dani On The Loose) are essential oils.
I know, I know- you may be thinking, “what witch craft potions is she about to push our way?” But, hear me out. The way I understand them, in their simplest form, is the pure nutrients distilled, extracted, and pressed out different plants, barks, seeds, roots, and flowers all holding varying historical, natural healing properties.
When taken internally, applied topically, or diffused into the air, your body is able to absorb and soak up all these aromas and nutrients quicker than eating and digesting- similar to the benefits of drinking cold pressed green juices that send vitamins & minerals straight to your bloodstream rather than requiring the body’s digestive system to break down a whole salad first. Now, (just so I can show off the A+ I worked so hard for in highschool chemistry) these plant-powered miracles in a bottle are sometimes referred to as “volatile aromatic organic compounds”- aka small organic molecules that change state quickly at room temperature. I won’t bore you with the rest.
Essential Oils are detoxifying, antibacterial, antiviral, mood boosting, and more.
They can be used as aromatherapy, personal care, and as natural medicine treatments- seriously, for instance, screw the z-packs you’re getting from the doctor for any slight sign of a sniffle. Oil of oregano is a natural antibiotic that is just as much a powerhouse for fighting infections without any of the nasty side effects, required insurance, or visits to the pharmacy.
So, where and how can you start to stock your medicine cabinet with these? There are many reputable companies out there, Doterra being one of them and my own personal favorite. I specifically like them for the blends they carry and the results I’ve seen firsthand. (Find ordering tips at the end of this post!)
Top 5 basic betch ways to start using essential oils in your daily routine? See below for my extremely easy beginner’s tips. These don’t require anything fancy like diffusers, carrier oils, or capsules.
Rub lavender oils onto the soles of your feet before bedtime for a more restful night’s slumber.
Take a drop of peppermint oil to your temples, under your nose, and onto your tongue to get you through the afternoon work sump and also alleviate any headaches.
Put 2-3 drops tea tree oil onto cotton ball and apply to any skin inflammation (fancy way of saying pimple).
Perfume/Cologne: Jasmine is popular for the females while Cedarwood is common for men. (I just recently made the hubs a homemade version with a little roller bottle from Whole Foods. Simply just ½ cedar, ½ lavender).
My personal favorite: Make yourself a gut happy, healthy(ish) vodka soda with carbonated water, organic vodka, and fresh lime wedge. (or let’s be real, whatever is available at the local bar). Add 1 drop peppermint oil and 1 drop lemon!
I could go on and on about the awesome, endless uses for essential oils. Especially key for travel, fighting colds/seasonal allergies, etc, but I’ll go ahead and leave you with this teaser. You may see more to come about this topic soon. I’m toying with the idea of VIDEO. This way I could talk to you guys more face to face about all my cray health world obsessions. Would you watch? Let me know below and be sure to stay tuned. For now, cheers!
