From the Lone Star State to Lala Land: Moving to Los Angeles, California

June 1, 2018

The Looses are on the move.

As I sit down to write this post, I reflect on all that the past few years life in Dallas has provided. I moved here in the summer of 2014 as a 23 year old after a brief stint in NYC. After 4 years in this city, now married and as I enter my late twenties, I cannot feel more certain that it’s time for a fresh new chapter.

Dallas has given me so much. From a personal standpoint, I was able to live with my sister (we’re besties if ya haven’t heard) and see my family on a regular basis again. I also have a hardcore amazing group of college girlfriends here that are always down for nights filled with tequila, tex mex, and lotsss of dancing. It also served as a middle point for Garrett (my now husband) and I to be together and really grow our relationship prior to marriage- most of you know we met freshmen year of college and started dating when we were 19 (but I digress– another story for another time and place!)

From a professional standpoint, I grew ALOT in my career experiencing a number of big promotions, followed by being a part of a department wide layoff (big wake up call and SO thankful it happened- maybe I’ll write a post about it someday), and then transitioning from the corporate world to the start-up world. I was also able to really get honest with myself, dig deep, and launch a passion project as a place to share what really gets me fired up to get out of bed every morning- HEALTHY. LIVING. GUYZ.

Aka, this blog. Blogging and sharing the knowledge that “health is wealth” is such a DrEaAmMm.

Getting raw here so fast forward if you want.

I’ve always been a creative person but have felt a little conflicted to follow a “normal” path- ie, play sports in high school, major in business at a big a$$ college (instead of journalism because biz is “more practical”), get a good degree and then start working asap. We all fall into the monotony and daily routine of normal life right? When I was a kid, like most of us, I wanted to be an actress. Then, a director, then a photographer, then a writer, and a magazine editor. No joke I used to make my own movies and magazines using my siblings and childhood besties as props. I should find those old tapes… Anywho, this blog allows me to tap into all those creative elements again and explore new ones- like trying to rep Karlie Kloss and learn coding 😉 To wrap it up, I love the stimulation I get from it. It’s addicting and so fulfilling at the same time. Like a natural high.

So, thank you DALLAS for giving me these past 4 growth years of ups, downs, and everything in between!

(PS- I’ve listed all my Dallas faves HERE.)

G (the hubs) and I have had the itch to move for awhile, and because life is short, rather than playing it safe and moving in state (we always thought Austin, TX is a realistic move for our next home), we’re crossing a dream off our joint bucket list and headed West….

to Los Angeles to be exact!

(Don’t worry- we’ll remember you all when we get FaMoUs in Hollywood). I can’t even begin to tell ya how pumped I am. You guys are about to get the cream of the crop when it comes to advanced holistic living as California is obvi the MECCA for this type of shiz. This past year for me, personally, has been super transitioning, and I’m excited to see what the future holds in sunny Lala land. Call it intuition, but something tells me I’m going to fit in quite well- don’t ya think? 😉

So join me in this new adventure— I’ll be sure to share it all along the way (from me freaking out when I spot my first major celeb, to pulling my hair out in LA traffic, and beachy weather all year long). I’ve done the East Coast thing- now it’s time to conquer the West. Cue Katy Perry’s “California Girls…”

Cheers and thanks for reading! Means more to me than ya know.

XOXO- Dani

Manhattan Beach trip a few years back. I snapped G in the corner there. Who knew we’d end up here again! Funny how life works.
