Welcome back peeps! Or if you’re new here, thanks for stopping by! I’m so glad you came across my lil’ corner of the interwebs. I wanted to share with you guys all about my decision to attend the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a year long program to become a certified holistic health coach– snaps for me, right? 😉
For those of who are like, wtf is that place? Basically it’s an online school where you can get set up to become a legit health coach. As a health coach, you could have personal clients, work in corporate wellness or doctor’s offices. Even write books and create companies. Funny actually, I was just looking back at my 2019 goals that I put together at the beginning of this year and this was one of them. It’s amazing to see it start to become reality.
Why I’m Becoming a Holistic Health Coach
As you can see from visiting my site, I’m super passionate about PREVENTING disease and chronic illness. I believe a balanced lifestyle free of harmful chemicals and toxic shit is ultimately the way to do that. My mission in starting this blog was to share everything about holistic health that my eyes were opened to after my Mom discovered the benefits of this type of healing for cancer.
If I can make a difference in even one of your lives then I’ve fulfilled my goal. I don’t want anyone or their family to suffer from a chronic disease (that is SO preventable) solely because they just aren’t aware of what’s going on everyday in our world that leads to it. Does that make sense? I want to arm myself and others with the toolbox to live life for vitality. So that we don’t spend the last chunk of our years on this earth sick.
How I Discovered the School
Anyway, moving away from the morbid stuff! I discovered The Institute of Integrative Nutrition after hearing about this online program from a number of friends that are into the same health scene stuff (shoutout Megan, Sarah Beth, and Alysia!) I also saw a number of public figures or, for lack of a better term, “influencers” in the health and wellness space that I respected such as Melissa Wood Health, the Ayurvedic Queen Sahara Rose, Maria Marlowe, and Danielle Duboise (the co-founder of Sakara), all gained their certifications from this program. Afterall, the school has some kick-ass teachers and speakers like Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Oz, Gabby Bernstein, Andrew Weil (True Foods founder!), and the list goes on.
The decision came at a time where I was contemplating the next step I could take to further immerse myself in the health and wellness world, from a career perspective. The curriculum itself too really sold me. Joshua Rosenthal, the founder, has done such an amazing job having the crux of the curriculum teachings center around the notion of “primary foods”. Basically, the curriculum is all about how other important factors that make up your life like relationships, career, and spirituality to name a few, are just as important as whole, organic foods for a healthy life.
Already Reaping the Personal Benefits
For me, this has provided a huge sense of relief. For a long time after my Mom’s diagnosis, I felt like I had to control everything about what I put in my body. I was so strict with food and I think that’s due to not being able to control what ultimately happens with her health, ya feel me? I mean, I don’t EVER get any urges to have McDonalds or some crap like that. Although I’ve had my fair share back in the day. (Oh this reminds me I’ll have to share an old pic of me as a toddler having a bday party at Mickey D’s lolz gross, how times have changed! ;)).
But, it has been kickass to allow myself to focus more of my energy and time on other aspects of my life. Like building a career I enjoy and growing my relationships, rather than just focusing on food all the time and freaking out that I was next up to get diagnosed with some incurable disease.
So, I’m super excited for you guys to come along this journey with me.
I already spend all my free time researching health shiz, I might as well get legit schooled on it, right? The program started back in March and I’ve devoured every single lecture and homework assignment since joining. I can’t wait to even maybe work with some of you peeps on a one on one basis next year! Look out 2020- I’m coming for ya with a certification as the Queen of holistic health.
If you want to know more about IIN, please send me a message or comment below! I’d LOVE to chat with you about it and spill all the tea. 😉 You can also click this link here to let he school know you were referred by me.
