Sakara Meal Delivery Service Review

February 22, 2019

Hiiiiiii welcome back frandz. SO excited to pour my lil heart out to you all about my new obsession. It’s organic and plant based goodness called SAKARA (check it out here!), a meal delivery service rooted in the belief that food is medicine. I knew we would be instant BFFs when I discovered they support this way of eating as a lifestyle, NOT a diet, which couldn’t align better with Dani On The Loose. Let’s be real, it was love at first bite. 5 stars!

PS if you’re looking for some savings before we dive into the details, just use code “XODANIELLE” for 20% off any order!

Sakara Meal Delivery Service Review

Sakara is not only organic and fully plant based (yes, VEGAN- meaning no animal products), but also gluten-free, dairy-free (again, no animal here), processed sugar free, harmful chemical free, and preservative free. I know, right? I’m already salivating at the mouth.

This holistic nutrition program was designed to help heal the gut, reduce inflammation, balance blood sugar and hormones, and regulate the digestive system. YES, YES, and YES. Ok, are you sold yet? Sorry not to be pushy but like I wouldn’t put it on my prized possession, this blog, unless I wasn’t 200% that into it.

Well, if not, here’s an honest recap of my experience.

I tried out the 3 day meal delivery service, which I feel like is a great starter option because it’s not too crazy expensive and in my opinion, well worth the money to save yourself TIME (no meal prep, no grocery store trips, no cooking, AND no cleaning.) I’m one of those millennials who pays for convenience factors that allow for more time in my day- join the club, it’s effing fantastic!

The 3 day service comes with a filling breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also used the detox teas and water concentrates. Highly recco as it just helps a ton with that “cleansed” feeling.

The delivery arrived by 6am on a Monday morning in a chic white box. Even the unboxing experience was a nice, clean, simple process. I popped all the meals in the fridge and took a look at the menu. Oatmeal with mango and coconut milk for breakfast, Thai veggie burger with a big, beautiful salad for lunch, and Sedona chipotle chili with cornbread for dinner. UM… YUM. I’ve been cooking plant based for years now and these recipes even had me counting down the minutes until each meal. I’m someone who doesn’t do a lot of fake meat stuff (tofu and whatnot), so I liked how Sakara doesn’t include those items in the menu. I was even super jealous looking at next week’s upcoming menu that I hadn’t yet purchased.. Rose petal pancakes? I DIE.

So, my routine for the next 3 days played out like this:

  • Wake up and drink full room temperature glass of water with Sakara Rose + Silica beauty drops (minerals minerals minerals!)
  • Sakara breakfast
  • Mid morning detox tea
  • Sakara Lunch
  • Afternoon detox tea
  • My own granola or fruit if I needed an afternoon snack
  • Sakara Dinner
  • Wind down and get ready for bed with Sakara Chlorophyll Detox water drops

If you’re worried about the meals being plant based and not filling enough, don’t be. Some of them I could barely finish and even gave the hubz my leftovers.

I also feel personally connected to this company on a deeper level because I have such mad respect for the founders, Danielle DuBoise and Whitney Tingle, who both used food as medicine to heal themselves from chronic issues. You guys know this is so near and dear to my heart if you’ve read why I started this blog, here.

So, I think that’s it for now, but I’ll def be sharing more. I’ve tried other meal delivery services like Green Chef for example (sorry not sorry calling you out oopz) and none of them ever cut it for me. It was either too much of a hassle to have to cook the meal once I received the ingredients, or, I didn’t like the food when it came already prepped. It was too bland or just stuff I would never want to make on my own, ya know? Needless to say, I’ll be investing in my health time and time again with this company. Loyal customer for life and I cannot wait to watch them grow.

Oh, also, before I forget, Sakara hooked me up with a code so you guys can all feel the love! Use “XODANIELLE” for a fantastic 20% off savings! Enjoy!

XOXO

Dani

@dearmediastudio 2nd annual IRL event in Austin th @dearmediastudio 2nd annual IRL event in Austin this past weekend- I remember @michaelbosstick describing the company vision to me about community events 5 years ago (before I had the amazing team we do now & when the brand partnerships department was literally just me, myself, & i lolz!) Fast forward here we are again with over 500 people coming to see some of their fave creators in person, experience brand activations, & spend the day with us! Super rewarding to see all this come to life after the behind the scenes planning since last year. Lucky to work with such incredible people & brands.

Next IRL coming SOON to a NEW city in the fall 🎤🎙️📰🎧🏙️🤠
We had to say goodbye to my best pal Caesar aka pu We had to say goodbye to my best pal Caesar aka pup on the Loose this past weekend. I feel like no one prepares you for this kind of grief you experience losing the pet that was ride or die with you through your 20s and all the life changes and growth that decade brings. He was by my side through it all. I got Caesar almost 12 years ago when I was a senior in college, preparing to graduate and then move to NYC. We adopted him from Fuzzy Friends in my hometown Waco, Tx where he was rescued from a puppy mill in Austin. He lived on both coasts during his life (NYC and LA!) and he truly went everywhere with us like Vegas, New Orleans, Palm Springs, Big Sur, and so much more. I can’t thank him enough for the unconditional love and comfort he gave me from 20 to now almost 33. Rest in peace my little angel. Love ya Always and forever🤍🦴🐾🐶

a New York minute- quick trip last week filled wit a New York minute- quick trip last week filled with work meetings, plantbased restaurants, and a little sibling hang time all in one (my brother is there, shoutout Andrew lolz!)
I lived in NYC for a brief stint in my early 20s over a decade ago and it always re-energizes me when I go back. One of my favorite places in the whole world. So much hustling and good plantbased food this trip. Fave spots we hit up: any restaurant by Matthew Kinney (Bar Verde and Double Zero), Juice Press locations everywhere, Coletta, abcV, and Butcher’s Daughter. Save for these healthy spots your next visit to the city! Xo, D
