Happy Sunday Funday! Time to talk all things CBD oil. High quality CBD oil has been one of coolest things I’ve added to my holistic wellness routine since living in California. The general public out here in the City of Angels seems to view hemp, CBD, and cannabis, all as normal selfcare supplements. This def took some getting used to. Previous states I’ve lived in (NY and TX) aren’t on board yet, so this is a new way of living for sure.
CBD Oil 101: From A Stressed Out Female Millenial’s Perspective
I love this description for CBD oil I came across in an awesome article from Mind Body Green:
“Somewhere between the hemp seeds you sprinkle on your smoothie bowl and psychoactive marijuana is CBD hemp oil.”
I’ll admit though, I was a bit naive about the differences of them all, so I want to give you guyz the full rundown. First and foremost,
CBD (or more formally, cannabidiol) does NOT get you high.
It’s actually legal and sold in all 50 states. Basically, CBD is from the hemp plant, the same plant as the stuff you would smoke, but only contains less than 0.3 percent of THC- the plant stuff that has psychoactive effects, aka gets you high as a kite, makes you want to watch Animal Planet, and eat vegan cookie dough- ya know?
The cannabinoids in CBD are naturally occurring chemicals in the hemp plant that are anti-inflammatory and help achieve and support a stable balance in our bodies, also known as good old, happy, healthy homeostasis peeps. I also recently learned it’s used by Integrative Medicine Doctors all over the country for cancer, brain injuries, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, & more.
Additionally…
Did you know we actually all have an endocannabinoid system?
It’s a whole network in the body that knows how to process this natural stuff. As Mind Body Green puts it, “the human body and the cannabis plant both make cannabinoids, so we are biologically programmed to be able to use CBD effectively to help us reduce inflammation and pain.”
Benefits, you say?
I’ve been testing out CBD oil for about two months now. I could give you all my honest opinion and so far, so good! I was introduced to the brand Vitalibis after meeting the founders through work and I fully trust the quality of their products. Also, I use the little oil dropper and drop it straight onto my tongue. You can also take in supplement form, put in coffee/tea, etc.
Taking CBD oil at the end of the day when I get home from work or before I go to bed or even when I’m feeling incredibly anxious during the day has worked best for me.
Getting real here for a moment. I’ve actually always had major trouble managing stress and recently have had stress turn into a bout of major anxiety. Taking a dose of this, then laying on my acupressure mat and meditating for a few minutes have been SO helpful. No gonna lie, sometimes I take a dose of this and wash it down with a glass of organic red wine or two as well. I know, call me CRAZAYYY.
I find the CBD doesn’t make me feel sleepy or less focused but DOES help me wind down way quicker at night. With sleep in particular, I can sleep deeper through the night without waking up. I’m a super light sleeper so this has really been a game changer. If I take it during the day, I get a bit of a mood boost, which is a nice bonus! Ladydeez, last thing- I also recco for pain during that time of the month. So fun being female am I right? #BLESSUP.
Look, obviously, to each their own and choose to take what you want from this, but I just had to share my honest thoughts because it truly has impacted my life lately! It’s not just some woo woo hippie BS- I swear. Also, what is this digital diary for if not for me to babble on about wellness shiz? Right? Anywho…
SoOoOo, have you tried CBD oil? Did it help with anything for you guyz? Lemme know!
Until next time,
XOXO- Dani
